Michiel Oudemans is een kind van Nederlandse immigranten naar Canada.
Michiel Oudemans was born in Fredericton,
New Brunswick to Dutch immigrant parents who made things with their hands. Throughout his life he has explored image and form through various mediums, including photography, scientific and commercial illustration, relief printmaking, book binding, wood turning, relief carving, furniture making, small boat building and more. He has a scholars inclination to research deeply the subjects that engage him. Relief printmaking in all its forms is one of his great loves. It was the subject of his research at Syracuse University where he surveyed Canadian, British and American wood engravers on why they pursue the medium. He learned wood engraving with David Sander of Chicago and Japanese woodblock print technique with Naboru Sawai in Victoria, British Columbia. In addition, he sought out numerous other teachers over the years to gather tools and techniques. Michiels prints are mostly small format and intended for book illustration, but many have evolved into larger format pieces. His work has been shown, published and included in various collections over the years. Michiel works out of his studio at Fourwinds Farm in River John, Nova Scotia. exclusief verzendkosten
