The Castella et praetoria nobilium Brabantiae et coenobia celebriora, ad vivum delineata et in aes incisa quo temporum injuriis memoria eorum subtrahatur quibus accessit turris Antverpiensis omnium quae toto orbe visuntur pulcherrima was published in 1696 in Antwerp by Henri Thieullier. Its author was Jacob (or Jacobus) Le Roy (1633-1719), an Antwerp historian. The book included a brief history and description in Latin of several buildings, convents and castles in the Duchy of Brabant. Its value today lies in its illustrations. Le Roy did not make these himself. He commissioned talented draughtsmen to create a drawing of each building, based on his detailed instructions. The engravings were made by leading engravers such as Wenceslaus Hollar, Franz Ertinger, Jacobus Harrewyn, Lucas Vorsterman (junior), Hendrik Causé, Abraham Santvoort.
