Marantz MA-7A Pure Class A Monoblock Power Amplifiers – Rare Japanese-Market Pair
Offered from my personal vintage Hi-Fi collection is a rare and beautifully preserved pair of Marantz MA-7A monoblock power amplifiers.
The MA-7A is a particularly interesting and uncommon Marantz design, produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market. These are genuine pure Class A monoblocks, rated at 30 watts into 8 ohms, featuring a MOS-FET output stage and the high-quality construction associated with Marantz's higher-end amplification of the era.
The real magic of the MA-7A, however, is in the sound. Despite their relatively modest power rating, they deliver an exceptionally clean, smooth, refined and highly musical presentation, with beautiful tonal density, natural timbre, excellent microdynamics and an effortless, sophisticated character.
They have a remarkably composed and controlled sound, with a sense of ease that makes long listening sessions extremely enjoyable. The 30-watt specification should not be misleading — these are surprisingly capable monoblocks.
In my own system, I used them to drive the large JBL S3900 loudspeakers, where they performed remarkably well, offering very good grip, control and authority. This combination was a great demonstration of what these compact Class A monoblocks are capable of.

Rare Japanese-Market Version
The MA-7A is a rare model outside Japan, making this pair particularly interesting for both the serious audiophile and the vintage Marantz collector.
These are the 100 V Japanese domestic-market versions, so operationrequires a suitable step-down transformer.
Condition
The amplifiers are in excellent overall cosmetic and fully operational condition.
There are only a couple of small scratches consistent with their age. Nothing serious or distracting, and overall they present very well considering their vintage. They have been well cared for and are fully functional.

I am selling these simply because I no longer have enough space for them after renovating my apartment. I also find myself with less and less time to properly enjoy my vintage Hi-Fi collection.
It feels like a shame to have such a special pair of amplifiers sitting in storage when they could instead be bringing music and enjoyment to a true audiophile.
There is no technical issue or other reason behind the sale. Quite the opposite — I have genuinely enjoyed these amplifiers and am only selling them because circumstances have changed.

Personal pickup, demonstration and listening are highly preferred. I believe that with equipment like this, the best way to appreciate what the MA-7A can really do is to hear them in person.
If you are able to visit, you are very welcome to listen to the amplifiers and hear them playing in my system before making a decision.
If personal pickup is not possible, shipping can also be arranged. In that case, I am happy to demonstrate the amplifiers live via video call before shipping, so the prospective buyer can see and hear the units operating and ask any questions in real time.
The amplifiers will be carefully packed for transport.
