Dit jaar vieren we de 70ste verjaardag van de Belgische Luchtmacht. We kunnen met trots terugblikken op een rijk gevulde geschiedenis waarbij diverse vliegtuigen en helikopters de revue zijn gepasseerd en waarbij we sinds 1946 deelgenomen hebben aan talloze operaties op vele plaatsen in de wereld. In de loop van de járen is de Belgische Luchtmacht uitgegroeid naar een uiterst professionele, internationaal gewaardeerde en inzetbare Air Power capaciteit. De Belgische Luchtmacht is vandaag wereldberoemd om zijn vastberaden en vakbekwame piloten en personeel. Her wordt gezien als een performante, snel onrplooibare en goed getrainde luchtcapaciteit die keer op keer perfecte resulteren aflevert. Ondanks de constante inkrimping van de vloot beschikken we vandaag over state-of-the-art F-16 Fighting Falcon gevechtsvliegtuigen, robuuste C-130 Hercules transportvliegtuigen en de hyper moderne NH-90 Caiman helikopters. Met de aankomst binnen enkele járen van de A-40QM Atlas en de vervanger van de F16 zal onze Luchtmacht helemaal klaar zijn om de uitdagingen van de volgende decennia aan te gaan. De toekomst is verzekerd en ziet er veelbelovend en uitdagend uit. Graag wil ik dan ook al her personeel van de Luchtmacht bedanken voor haar toewijding en enthousiasme. Een speciale dank gaar naar Daniël Brackx en alle mensen die meegewerkt hebben aan de realisatie van dit boek. Ik wens u veel leesplezier. La Force Aérienne Belge a aujourd'hui 70 ans. Nous pouvons être fiers de notre histoire. En effet, depuis 1946 de nombreux types d'avions et d'hélicoptères se sont succédés et ont participé à de nombreuses opérations dans le monde. Au fil des années, la Force Aérienne Belge a évolué en une capacité aérienne hautement professionnelle, internationalement reconnue et opérationnelle. La Force Aérienne belge est aujourd'hui réputée dans le monde entier grâce à ses pilotes et son personnel déterminés et compétents. Elle est vue comme une capacité performante, rapidement déployable et bien entraînée qui fournit constamment de parfaits résultats. Malgré la réduction constante de la flotte, nous disposons aujourd'hui d'avions de combat F-16 Fighting Falcon à la pointe du progrès, de robustes avions de transport C-130 Hercules et d'hélicoptères NH90 Caïman hypermodernes. Avec l'arrivée dans quelques années de LA400M Atlas et du remplaçant du F 16, notre Force Aérienne sera pleinement prête à affronter les défis de la décennie suivante. L'avenir est assuré et s'annonce prometteur er plein de défis. Je voudrais encore remercier tout le personnel de la Force Aérienne pour son dévouement et son enthousiasme. Un merci tout particulier à Daniel Brackx et à tous ceux qui ont participé à la réalisation de ce livre. Je vous souhaite une agréable lecture. This year, we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Belgian Air Force. We can proudly look back on a rich history, in which many different airplanes and helicopters passed in review and since 1946, we’ve participated in multiple operations all over the world. Throughout the years, the Belgian Air Force evolved towards a very professional and internationally well respected Air Power capacity, with a high degree of readiness. Today the Belgian Air Force is famous throughout the world for its determined and skilled pilots and personnel. Our air force is renowned for its performance, rapidly deployable and as a well-trained air capacity, delivering outstanding results every single time. Despite the continuous reduction of the air fleer, today, we dispose of srare-of-rhe-arr F-16 Fighring Falcon combar planes, solid C-130 Hercules transport aircraft ond hyper modern NH-90 Caiman helicopters. With the arrival of the A-400M Atlas within a few years, our Air Force will be raring ro go for the challenges of the next decades. Our future is assured oneI looks very promising and challenging. To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Belgian Air Force, a unique book project is being prepared. It will be presented at the end of June during the BAF DAYS 16 at Florennes Air Base.
We have chosen a unique concept for two volumes: the first volume will give an overview of the past 70 years; the other will give an overview of our current capabilities and will take a look at the future. Everything is beautifully illustrated with unique photographic material.
