For sale is my 2003 Smart Roadster in blue. It has the 0.7-litre turbo engine, originally producing around 80 hp and now professionally tuned to approximately 100 hp.
The engine starts easily, runs very well and has always been reliable. Thanks to the extra power, the car has plenty of torque and is genuinely fun to drive, while still remaining economical at approximately 4.5–5.5 litres per 100 km.
The gearbox shifts properly, although recently the car has occasionally stopped and requested a restart. After restarting, it continues driving normally. The car has been checked with the Smart DAS diagnostic system, but no faults were found. This issue is reflected in the condition and asking price.
Mechanically, the car has received a lot of attention during the past two years. Work includes:
The car comes with extensive service history. It was maintained by an official Smart dealer and later by a Smart specialist in the Netherlands.
The bodywork is not perfect. The car was previously covered with Plasti Dip, which was not removed cleanly. As a result, the lacquer is peeling in several places. The rear quarter panel also has parking damage.
The electric roof is currently not functioning because some of the plastic slider components are broken.
The interior is clean and the seats are in very good condition. The door cards have a few imperfections. Several upgrades have been fitted:
This is not a perfect collector’s example, but it is a mechanically strong, economical and very entertaining Roadster. It would suit someone looking for a fun daily driver, project car or affordable entry into Smart Roadster ownership.
