Beschrijving
Designed by H.W. Klein for Bramin, this Danish oak dining table brings together a generous rectangular top and a notably light frame. Its gently rounded corners soften the outline, while tapered legs keep the space beneath the table open. Dark wood inlays at the corners give the restrained design a precise, graphic accent.
The oak grain carries across the broad surface, punctuated by narrow lighter lines in the main tabletop. At each corner, the dark inlays wrap around the curved apron above the leg. They draw the eye to a carefully finished part of the table without disturbing the simplicity of its profile.
The tabletop separates at the centre to receive an extension leaf stored beneath it. Photographs of the table opened show the leaf and its sliding support; when closed, the extension is concealed within the table’s outline. It is an especially useful arrangement in a design whose slender legs and uncluttered base remain prominent in either configuration.
The relationship between the expansive oak top, fine-legged silhouette and emphatic corner details gives this table its character. Its extension is thoughtfully accommodated within the frame, while the visible woodwork makes the craftsmanship as compelling as the practical design.

Uitschuifbare eiken eettafel, H.W. Klein, Denemarken, circa jaren 60
