Engraved title-pages anf 556 wood and steel engraved plates and illustrations, (including 49 steel engraved plates and 17 engraved maps).
In black cloth with pictorial gilt decorations.
Part one some occasional ligt foxing and waterstain but a fine set.
The authors, who were Irish, travelled extensively Ireland. The set could stand alone as a great pictorial record of itsera but it is, as well, well known for its topographical description and social history.
A composite account of Ireland for wich the information was gathered on five tours undertaken between 1825 and 1841.
The wood-engraved text illustrations are chiefly by Fairholt, Harvey, Nicholl and Sargent.
Illustrators include W.H. Bartlett, T. Creswick, J.H. Burgess and T.C. Croker.
Books (with some repairs to the spines) complete and in good condition.
