Claude Bonnefond (1868-1936) was born in Mâcon, France. He exhibited at the Le Salon des Artistes Français in 1892 and 1893. In 1894 he worked for Keller and Guerin Pottery in Lunéville and participated in the Exposition d’art Décoratif et Industriel (Exposition of Decorative and Industrial Art) in Nancy that same year. In 1900 he moved to the region of Argentan in France where he remained until his death in 1936. He is known for his small sculptures, vases, candelabras lamps and more. His work included hallmarks of the Art Nouveau style, with the nude female figure lying among vine-like stylized botanic forms.
