Zani & Zani, established in 1936, is, just like Alessi, Seletti, and Bialetti a leading Italian manufacturer of kitchen utensils and tableware.
Serafino Zani founded the company under the Zani name in 1936.
Building on craft traditions in cutlery making the firm extended its repertoire to include flatware and other tableware in 1960, subsequently establishing a reputation for elegant designs in stainless steel, a medium in which it began to specialize in the late 1970s.
Amongst wellknown designers commissioned by the company have been Tapio Wirkkala, Bruno Munari (TMT ice bucket, 1954), Lino Sabattini, Enzo Mari (Smith & Smith kitchen product range, 1987), and Gaetano Pesce (the dramatic Vesuvio cafetiere, 1993).
Enzo Mari ,Novara 1932 - Milan 2020, is one of the masters of Italian Design together with De Pas, D’Urbino, Lomazzi, Marcantoni, Maurizio Cattelan, Joe Colombo, Ettore Sottsass, Michele De Lucchi, Nathalie Du Pasquier, Matteo Thun, Achille Castiglioni, Angelo Mangiorotti.
Has always lived in Milan where he first moved to train as an artist.
His work ranges from design to painting, from graphics to installation design.
He has been both a university lecturer and a political activist.
His characteristic style with its minimal forms and consistent use of materials is considered fundamental to the history of Italian design and the development of its role on the world stage.
Mari worked with many renowned brands such as Zanotta, Danese Milano, Memphis Milano, Magis, Le Creuset, Driade, Hermes and many more.
