Standing in a severe mannerist contrapposto, the officer is clad in highly detailed, polished steel ceremonial armor, holding a tactical baton of command next to his crested jousting helmet. The lower matrix features the profound Latin inscription: "Pio Christo mihi dulce mori, patriaeque salute, sic vivam terris nomine mente polo" ("For pious Christ and the safety of the fatherland it is sweet for me to die, so shall I live on earth in name, and in mind in heaven").
