Within the New Originals project, Hutten took a classic Chinese teapot and gave it a bold, modern twist.

The original was cast iron, but Hutten swapped it for sleek porcelain, making it lighter and fresher.

Instead of the usual delicate curve of the handle, Richard Hutten borrowed the grip from a good old-fashioned clothes iron.

Bright red and easy to hold, it’s designed to keep your hands safe as you pour hot tea into your mug.

Handle With Care' teapot by Richard Hutten for DROOG made in The Netherlands 2014.

Dutch designer Richard Hutten has the traditional teapot from China, the original being made of cast iron, this teapot has been modernized and made of porcelain. the Dutch teapot echoes classic Chinese design and was made in Shenzhen, China, where many items are copied for the mass market.

Highlighting what gets changed in a “copy,” the collection strives to bring attention to the creative decisions that go into making all copycats and to show that unoriginality can be inspiring, too.

The teapot also with a handle that you may recognize from an iron you use for your clothes.

This red handle will help you handle your hot tea with care. In excellent unused condition, out of production and a hard find outside of Europe.

Droog (droog is a Dutch word meaning "dry") is a conceptual Dutch design company situated in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Droog has realised products, projects, exhibitions and events.
Droog is an internationally renowned design label and one of the most famous exponents of Dutch Design. Droog worked with well known designers such as Marcel Wanders, Hella Jongerius, Tejo Remy, Richard Hutten, Ed Annink, Jurgen Bey and Joris Laarman.

Droog was founded in 1993 by product designer Gijs Bakker and art and design historian Renny Ramakers to promote contemporary Dutch design.

The founders had selected work by young Dutch designers in which they saw a new trend in the reuse of everyday objects combined with a down-to-earth mentality.
They presented these works at the Salone del Mobile, the international furniture fair in Milan. The presentation was called "Droog", meaning "dry" in Dutch, because of the simplicity and dry humor of the objects.

This item could be interesting for collectors of designs from Sottsass, Eames, Newson, Corbusier, Prouve, Colombo etc.
