Mishima Go, was one of the first contemporary gay artists in Japan. He was an early contributor of illustrations to "Barazoku" (The Rose Tribe), the first commercial gay magazine in Japan, published by Daini Shobo in Tokyo in 1971. In 1974, Mishima Go founded his own gay magazine called "Sabu”, which was focused on images of masculine men, and was more explicitly pornographic than “Barazoku”
Works by Go Mishima are rare, considered as 'cult' by fans of the genre, and extremely sought after
Mishima Go was the best friend of the famous Japanese author Yukio Mishima, who committed seppuku (ritual suicide) in 1970
