18th Century – Copy after Francesco Trevisani

A finely executed oil on canvas painting measuring 88 x 62 cm, depicting a classical religious scene inspired by Francesco Trevisani (1656-1746), an Italian Baroque painter known for his delicate compositions and soft color transitions. The artwork captures the tenderness of the Holy Family, with the Virgin Mary holding the infant Jesus, accompanied by an elderly Saint Joseph and an adoring cherub. The composition reflects Trevisani’s signature style, particularly in the harmonious use of color and the serene expressions of the figures.

Condition: The painting has been relined (verdoekt), and relining marks are clearly visible. Due to its age, the surface shows signs of wear, old restorations, and some losses, especially in darker areas. Please review the photos carefully to form your own judgment regarding the condition.
