Excellent antique oil painting on canvas.
Signed lower leftside W.F. Hulk, { William Frederick Hulk was a landscape artist who was born in the Netherlands in 1852 and adopted England as his country after moving there as a young man. He was born into a family of artists: he was the son of the Dutch sea and canal scene artist Abraham Hulk Senior (1813 - 1897) and the brother of Abraham Hulk Jnr 1851-1922). His uncle, Johannes (John) Frederick Hulk (1829 - 1911) was a canal and city face painter. His father traveled extensively, even to America, before settling in London in 1870 with William and his brother Abraham. William was taught by his father, and he quickly became a renowned landscape artist and was a prolific exhibitor.

He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1876 to 1898 and sometimes showed as many as 7 paintings a year. He has also exhibited many works at the Royal Society of British Artists, the New Watercolor Society and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.
