Franz Hecker (1870-1944) - "Quartett"
A beautiful and early etching and aquatint
titled "Quartett" by the renowned German
artist Franz Hecker (1870-1944). This piece,
dating from 1908, is an exquisite example of
his printmaking. The etching is hand-signed in
pencil "Franz Hecker" in the lower right
corner. The title "Quartett" is visible in the
lower left, along with a reference to it being
an "early print."
The artwork depicts a tranquil scene of the
Tatenhausen Castle garden pavilion in the
district of Halle / Westphalia. It showcases a
building with a bench and lush foliage,
reflecting Hecker's skill in capturing
landscapes and natural motifs. This work is a
catalogue raisonné no. D 2 (Dr. Ulrike Hamm),
and it is noted as being one of approximately
1,500 signed examples.
The print is in good condition, showing some
signs of age consistent with a work of this
period, including partial foxing and a slightly
browned sheet. It is framed behind glass in a
classic wooden frame.
This framed piece is a beautiful black and
white etching or print, depicting a serene,
overgrown courtyard scene. It features a
detailed image of a building entrance and a
bench surrounded by lush foliage, all
presented in a classic monochromatic style.
