Even though other, less successful models were to follow, it was actually the Thema that was the last true Lancia flagship: together with the first Delta, by far the best product from the Fiat era. Attractive styling, the work of Italdesign, an image capable of placing an Italian product firmly towards the top of a sector dominated by foreign marques, the Germans in particular, and a more extensive range than had ever been created for a large Lancia: saloon, limousine, station wagon; four-, six- and eight-cylinder petrol and turbodiesel engines.
