1) Paper museum-the academy of sciences St.Petersburg + DVD
The paper museum in st. Petersburg is a complete edition of the approximately 2,200 surviving drawings of the collection of objects as it existed in the museum of the academy of sciences in the 18th century. The foundation for this museum, the legendary kunstkamera, was laid by peter the great, who made substantial purchases for his collections all over europe. From the early 18th century, the kunstkamera was housed and displayed as a public museum that aimed to stimulate scientific study. The drawings of the objects in the collection were made in the studios of the academy of sciences. The academy accommodated a print shop and an engraving workshop right from its foundation in 1724 and relied heavily on visual documentation, also for its publications. The drawings cover a wide range of disciplines, from botany, zoology, anatomy and numismatics to what we now refer to as ethnography, archaeology and sinology. Nowadays, they are kept in three institutes in st petersburg: the archive of the petersburg section of the russian academy of sciences, the hermitage and the russian museum. C.1724-1760 A team of researchers from russia and the netherlands has been working since 1999 to describe and classify this unique collection of drawings. Their findings have been brought together in this publication, which provides insight into the collections of the legendary kunstkamera. + Dvd
