Beschrijving

'Prehistoric pottery for the archaeologist' door alex m. Gibson en ann woods.

Second edition

This work provides an introduction to the chronological development and technology of prehistoric ceramics. It should be suitable for laymen, students and specialists interested in prehistoric and romano-british pottery. It aims not to reiterate or redefine existing and accepted ceramic styles used in prehistory, but to clarify and outline these styles in an accessible way. It is directed towards the more technical side of ceramic studies and presents new data. A general handbook for the study of british prehistoric pottery, divided into four sections. Following a brief section on the historical development of pottery studies, there are two short sections on the technology of prehistoric pottery manufacture and the chronological development of pottery throughout prehistory and into the roman times. The main part of the book is an extensive glossary of pottery types, materials, and technology.
