Basic millinery is covered, from felts, through stitched hats and straws, to the bridal headdress. Shapes dealt with suit heads from infant to grandma. Instructions include trims and suitable interlinings for millinery fabrics.

Mildred Anlezark deals clearly with the elements of design-line, direction, shape, size, texture, value, colour and then the principles of harmony, contrast, gradation, alternation, balance. In simple fashion she explains the uses of repetition, radiation, unity, and dominance, in millinery design.

Mildred Anlezark spent twenty years of research in the workroom on the art of millinery and was a teacher of fashion in the Department of TAFE. She died in 1982. Her book was first published in 1965 and this new edition has been revised by Sydney milliner Lois Easton Graham.

Mildred Anlezark behandelt duidelijk de elementen van ontwerp - lijn, richting, vorm, grootte, textuur, waarde, kleur en vervolgens de principes van harmonie, contrast, gradatie, afwisseling, balans. Op eenvoudige wijze legt ze het gebruik van herhaling, straling, eenheid en dominantie uit in het ontwerpen van hoeden

Mildred Anlezark deed twintig jaar onderzoek in de werkplaats naar de kunst van het hoedenmaken en was docent mode aan de afdeling TAFE. Ze stierf in 1982. Haar boek werd voor het eerst gepubliceerd in 1965 en deze nieuwe editie is herzien door de hoedenmaakster Lois Easton Graham uit Sydney.
