Beschrijving

During World War II, the Canadian arms industry began mass production of armoured equipment for the Canadian and British armies. Tanks, armoured personnel carriers, self-propelled guns and armoured cars were also delivered to units of other fighting countries: the USA, Australia, New Zealand, China, Poland, France, the Union of South Africa, India and the USSR. In addition to licensed production (e.g. the British "Valentine" tanks), Canada developed several of its own designs. The most important were the fast tank Cruiser Tank "Ram" (ram) and the self-propelled gun "Sexton" built on its chassis. Both vehicles were in service with units of the Canadian Army, as well as some Allied countries, including Great Britain and the Polish Armed Forces. This study discusses the fast tank "Ram" and its derivatives, and the armoured personnel carrier "Kangaroo" ("Kangaroo-Ram").
