One that is especially suited for the solitaire practitioner. My training time is limited and focused on combatives. Live in a small rural community. Don't have a formal instructor or school, and rarely the benefit of training partners. Train primarily in my garage, with a mook jong, a BOB, and a heavy bag. Not the optimal situation obviously, but I strive to make it conducive for maintaining an adequately effective and applicable skill set. Mindful of opportunities for criticism, I would submit that the Slam Set is a lot more than a traditional form. After training with it for several years, I've discerned that Simonet's claims regarding its' efficacy are under-stated. It's much more than linear robotic movements. He has extracted essential elemets that can be utilized empty hand, with a blade, or a club. Certain that you need the video instructional DVD to really glean the nuances from this book. But IMHO, this book can provide some essential understanding of an intensely physical 60 seconds or so of an effective training method.
