Cable & Deadpool Volume 7: Separation Anxiety

The Rob Liefield cover featuring big shoulder pads, bigger knives and the biggest of guns immediately reminds readers of the 90s trend of fluff over substance. The creator of both these characters and a host of others (including Youngblood and X-Force) has little more to do with this title than the cover, but his often collaborator, Fabian Nicieza, is back to helm this latest incarnation of Marvel’s “Odd Couple.” Teaming the irreverent “Merc with a Mouth” Deadpool and the telekinetic Nathan Summers, a.k.a. Cable, is like putting pickles on a PB&J. The stories presented here, however, are all about the gag and the artwork from Udon Studios (Dreamwave’s Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) only adds to the mirth and hijinks. Fans of buddy movies and Vin Diesel-fueled action flicks should be all over this book.
