After his mother is killed by a hunter, Babar avoids capture by escaping to the city, where he is befriended by the kindly Old Lady. He becomes educated and cultured and, upon his return to the great forest, is crowned King of the Elephants.

In the second Babar story, King Babar and Queen Celeste set off in a hot air balloon, beginning a series of exiting adventures. They will escape from cannibals to be saved by a whale, only to be trapped in a circus. An old friend will once again come to their rescue.
Meanwhile, in Elephants Land, a terrible is fought....
