Restoration / Maintenance Performed


This unit was disassembled, inspected, repaired and serviced by a technician specialized in Japanese retro computers:

• All electrolytic capacitors checked; weak ones replaced (preventive recapping).

• No corrosion whatsoever: the battery area is clean, with no damaged traces or PCB degradation.

• Original battery removed and replaced with a CR2032 holder + on/off switch, making maintenance safe and easy.

• Power supply stable, consistent booting, clean audio output.

• System tested for hours under real-world use.


This puts the machine far above the typical ACE HD units on the market, which often suffer from severe battery leakage.


Hardware Upgrades & Expansions

This ACE HD includes 6 MB of RAM, which allows running about 95% of all software available for the X68000:

• 1 MB internal expansion installed

• 4 MB expansion card in the rear slot

• Total: 6 MB RAM (machine has 1 MB from factory)

Additionally:

SASI HDD replaced with modern SCSI drive

The original 20 MB SASI drive has been replaced with a 4.7 GB IBM SCSI HDD, fully compatible and working perfectly.
