Omschrijving van dit kavel (in het Engels):

Built in 1910 by the Charles Marenghi firm in Paris, this organ was exported to Belgium for use in Mr. Jan de Ploe’s restaurant in Antwerp where it spent all its commercial life, even undergoing restoration on site. As musical tastes changed, the organ was slightly modified - the glockenspiel was removed, swell shades and vox Celeste pipes were added and the vox Humana was replaced with jazz flutes. The organ was imported to America in 1967. First it came to Texas where it played in a small amusement park owned by Duke Parrish, next it played at Tom Fretty’s museum in Iowa, after that it was displayed in Greg Filardo’s beautiful mansion in Milwaukee, before finally being acquired by Bill Nunn. Bill used a microscope when restoring the facade which allowed him to find and carefully replicate the original colors and gilding patterns hidden beneath the many layers of paint. All six of the original oil portraits of famous composers - Wagner, Liszt, Mozart, Beethoven, Benoit and Blockx, that were specifically painted just for this organ in Paris, as well as the other oil paintings and lettering were meticulously restored. The organ facade is currently in excellent visual condition showing only minor natural wear: small cracks in the wood, hairline cracks in the oil paint, and a few tiny spots of paint loss. Dick Lokemoen mechanically restored the organ in 2007. Currently the Marenghi is in very good playing condition, comes with 243 music books and features the following instrument pipes - bass, trombone, violin, piccolo, Voix Celeste, Unda Maris, saxophone, Vox Humana, and the following percussion instruments - bells, xylophone, snare drum, bass drum, woodblock, gong and triangle.
