In the GRUFF we already introduced that the original Triangle fuzz was born in America. But of course Japan, notorious as a copycat champion at the time, could not ignore the use of the original Triangle by famous artists. The result? An abundance of Japanese copies.
When you look at the circuit, it is clear that these models are inspired by the original Triangle. As is usual with clones from that era, the components used are completely random and there are multiple versions of the circuit board design. And as you might have guessed: each one sounds different! Complete chaos.
The birth of the ELF FUZZ SUSTAINERWe acquired five of these Japanese Triangle clones and compared more than ten models. From that comparison, we chose our favorite unit and used it as a reference for developing the ELF FUZZ SUSTAINER.
This actually happened a while ago. Back then, we were constantly scouring auctions and shops with friends. So much so that most pedals we come across now seem familiar — we bought so many back then! (laughs).
