Excellent condition for a 35-year-old amp! It works perfectly with no crackling.
It features the Celestion MC90, developed specifically for Mesa amps (Caliber 50, Mark III, IV, V, and many cabinets); it offers a sound that is more British, more rock-oriented, and warmer than the famous EVM12L.
A highly versatile amp; while YouTube videos often focus on metal and hard rock, that’s a very limited view, as this amp excels at blues, rock, '70s and '80s hard rock, jazz-fusion, pop, grunge, and more.
It features a proven graphic EQ, allowing for the famous "V" or "soft V" settings to achieve modern tones and beyond.
The clean channel leans towards a "Blackface" sound when you tweak the mid and gain controls, allowing the unique character of each guitar (Strat, Telecaster, Les Paul, etc.) to shine through; the sound takes on more drive as you increase the gain.
The lead channel delivers classic Mesa tone:
plenty of gain and sustain on tap, with mids that range from warm and creamy to biting, depending on your picking attack. The amp is highly responsive to the guitar's volume knob—utilizing that classic '60s or '70s technique that offers a vast array of tonal palettes and dynamic range...
Power stage: 2x 6L6
Preamp stage: 4x 12AX7 / 1x 12AT7 (reverb); cascaded preamp design. This is where most people get thrown off: the three tone stack controls (treble, mid, bass) act like volume controls. If you set them to zero, you get no sound; as soon as you turn one up, the sound kicks in, and each tone control interacts with the others—the higher the treble, the less effective the mids and bass become. This creates a huge variety of tonal colors depending on how you balance the controls. I know plenty of people who sold their Mesa after just two months because they didn't know how to dial it in 😉. It’s well worth spending some time finding the sound you're after...
Tube-driven spring reverb
Classy finish (cane grille)—quite rare
I no longer live in Nederland
I'm in Belgium (30 km south of Brussels)
I can ship the amp with Bpost
