Interesting coin in beautiful condition with laconic design struck in Llantrisant. Recently with the help of this coins the main dies were classified and the mule was discovered by the seller.
At the beginning of emission heavy planchets were in use and the dies were I+A. Later a switch to light planchets happened with new die combination II+B. This coin is attributed as stuck by uncommon mule combination I+B on heavy planchets. For high interest of collectors to varieties the standard classification was published in the world coins variety section of comprehensive catalog VARIETIES OF EURO COINS with images of this very mule.
