Medaille voor krijgsverrichtingen
Art Nouveau medaille Fidac
Diameter Krijgsverrichtingen 4 cm.

la médaille associative de la FIDAC 1918-1919
the face with a full-length female figure in classical dress before a niche with flaming torches to either side, all within a laurel wreath; the reverse with a central plaque, a scrolled support below, laurel branches to either side, inscribed ‘FIDAC’ above, surmounted by an antique oil lamp; with bronze assay mark and stamped ‘MADE IN FRANCE’ on the edge; diameter 18,2mm (0.71 inch); on original ribbon with brooch bar mounted for wear. The FIDAC (Fédération Internationale des Anciens Combattants - International Federation of Former Combattants), was established in November 1920 at the instigation of the French Union Nationale des Combattants led by Charles Bertrand to promote peace between countries and support veterans. In due course, veterans’ organisations in Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Italy, Romania, Yugoslavia, the UK and the USA joined. However, only Czechoslovakia issued a medal in this context, though this is not surprising since many Czechs and Slovaks had had no choice but to fight for the Austro-Hungarian army yet found themselves citizens of a new country on the Allied side at the end of the war.
