Functieomschrijving

As a Proposal Engineer specializing in Electrical and Automation within the Proposals department, you will be tasked with developing high-level and contract-ready system designs. These include power distribution, generation, propulsion, automation systems, cabling, and navigational technologies for advanced naval platforms, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and client requirements.
In this role, you will work within a cross-disciplinary tender team where your focus is to devise innovative and cost-effective E&A design concepts that meet the customer’s needs while remaining commercially appealing. Your strong analytical mindset, paired with excellent writing capabilities, allows you to clearly explain technical proposals, figures, and reasoning in a persuasive and professional manner.
After contract award, you will facilitate a seamless handover of your work to the engineering department, which will proceed with detailed design and implementation. Because the engineering teams operate out of locations in Vlissingen and Schiedam, your presence at both offices on a regular basis is essential.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the go-to expert on all electrical and automation aspects within the tender team.
• Provide technical leadership to a team of tender engineers specializing in E&A systems.
• Design system frameworks including single line diagrams and automation architectures, and prepare estimates for power, weight, cost, and load balances.
• Support the analysis of customer requirements and assist in preparing specifications and documentation for vendor inquiries.
• Review initial designs to ensure they meet the outlined requirements and produce technical validation reports.
• Compose detailed technical documents and specifications, clearly presenting complex system designs and data to clients and suppliers.
• Join technical and commercial discussions with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
• Contribute to the financial evaluation of bids and quotes from both internal departments and third-party vendors.

Functie-eisen

• Minimum of three years of experience in electrical design within complex maritime or tender-driven environments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a small engineering team within a project setting.
• Skilled in producing clear, structured technical documentation including figures, calculations, and detailed specifications.
• Possesses a commercially driven mindset, capable of merging technical feasibility with cost-effective solutions.
• Holds a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or an equivalent discipline.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written. Understanding of Dutch is preferred; willingness to learn Dutch is mandatory.
• Available for occasional travel abroad when required.
• Prepared to work from both Vlissingen and Schiedam on a regular basis.
• Able to provide excellent references due to the required security screening.
• In possession of permanent EU citizenship and an EU passport. Individuals with dual or non-EU nationality or visa status do not meet eligibility criteria due to project sensitivity.
