HACKS hoestbonbons zijn gemaakt volgens een traditioneel Engels recept dat een unieke mix van kruidenextracten bevat voor de verlichting van hoest en keelpijn. HACKS Honing Citroensnoepjes bieden ook rustgevend comfort omdat ze zijn gemaakt van pure honing en citroenolie die rijk zijn aan vitamine C. Naast kruidenextracten bevat HACKS menthol en eucalyptus met zoethout die zorgen voor een zoete en aangename smaak.
In the 1950s and 1960s, White Hudson marketed them with the catchy slogan, "Hacks, the cough sweet that’s a treat to eat." They were sold out of massive 5-pound metal shop-counter tins decorated with a famous graphic of a balding Victorian or Edwardian gentleman in mid-sneeze. While Hacks were popular in Britain, their legacy truly exploded when they were exported to the Commonwealth markets of Malaya (now Malaysia) and Singapore (meerdere websites).
HACKS story began in the mid-50s when late Haji Abu Backer seeing the potential in HACKS medicated cough sweets, contacted the manufacturers in England and convinced them that there was a market in this region. Impressed by his assessment, they appointed Barkath Stores as the sole agent for HACKS for Malaya and Singapore. In the mid – 1960s, late Haji Abu Backer, an enterprising man with great foresight, obtained manufacturing rights from the original makers of HACKS sweets and set up a manufacturing base in Mak Mandin, Penang (pendang today communitie/facebook).
