For nearly 60 years the Hausser firm of Germany created its wonderful miniature figures trademarked as Elastolin. Most famous are the incredible assortment of military figures, yet the company also created an incomparable wonderland of adventure scenes including Wild West and Perry's Expedition, village and domestic scenes and a Zoological Garden that encompassed hundreds of exotic animals. Although mass produced of a secret composition material, each figure was hand painted in an artistic and imaginative way. Although created as children's playthings, Hausser Elastolin has, today, become the consummate collectors' item. For collectors of Elastolin there has been no reference, identification or price guide until now. This book begins to fill that gap, presenting over 900 distinctive individual figures and sets with reference to original Hausser catalogue numbers and period of production. Each item is color photographed.

Bijna 60 jaar lang creëerde de Duitse firma Hausser prachtige miniatuurfiguren, onder de merknaam Elastolin. Het meest bekend is de ongelooflijke collectie militaire figuren, maar het bedrijf creëerde ook een onvergelijkbaar wonderland van avonturenscènes, waaronder het Wilde Westen en Perry's Expeditie, dorps- en huiselijke taferelen en een dierentuin met honderden exotische dieren. Hoewel massaal geproduceerd van een geheim materiaal, werd elk figuur op een artistieke en fantasierijke manier met de hand beschilderd. Hoewel Hausser Elastolin bedoeld was als kinderspeelgoed, is het vandaag de dag uitgegroeid tot een onmisbaar verzamelobject.
