One of the few remaining Nacra 5.5 “18 square” catamarans, professionally restored and upgraded to an exceptional standard. Built in 1984 this legendary one-person racing catamaran is now in near-new condition and ready for top-level solo sailing.

Renovating Highlights (2024-2025):

New platform installed by Nacra Sailing International (The Hague)
Hulls, daggerboards and rudders professionally spray-painted by De Vries Yachtpaining (Drachten):
- three layers of primer
- three topcoats
- antifauling
- additional Teflon coating on the underside of the hulls to reduce drag.

All standing and running rigging renewed in 2025 by M. De Groot Rigging (Stavoren).
Unique trampoline tensioning system allowing both lengthwise and widthwise tensioning with a single cord.

Mast has some minor corrosion but is structurally sound.
Immaculate original Dacron sail.

The boat has not been sailed since the full renovation and is in pristine condition.

Performance and sailing experience:
Originally designed as a high-performance solo racing catamaran, the Nacra 5.5 is extremely stable thanks to its wide beam and optimized for speed with low water resistance and minimal draft. It’s lightweight construction combined with an oversized rig allows for speeds of up to 40 km/h.

Sailing this boat is exhilarating. The sail catches the wind and snaps into shape through the battened mainsail, launching you forward. Gliding past nearly everything else on the water, your sail solo with the joystick in hand, optionally using the trapeze. The sensation is more than just performance - it is about feeling the wind, the spray, the light and the movement. A deeply immersive experience.

About the price. This boat is not a bargain. It is a rare and sought-after model that - in the condition in which it is offered - is hard to find worldwide. There is no asking price. It is left to the market to determine the price - which the seller may or may not accept. For consideration: the costs incurred for the renovation exceed € 6.000,- A new Nacra sells for € 17.000,- to € 45.000,- and a solo-model is not offered. Prospectieve buyers can take this into account when determining an offer.
