Speakers sound fantastic. Can be auditioned if you are seriously interested. Technically, they are 100% ok. Optically there is some usage visible, but only visible if you come very close. This did not disturb me a bit. Note that the woofers on the edge have some deterioration. (See pictures). This does not impact the sound. They do not require reforming. Come for a sound test!
A speaker system developed as the next generation Kappa series.
A newly developed 30 cm cone type woofer using an IMG cone is mounted in the low range.
The IMG cone is a diaphragm that is lightweight and has high rigidity while maintaining the characteristics of polypropylene. It is composed of a composite material of graphite fiber and polypropylene and is made by high-temperature and high-pressure injection molding. In this cone, since the graphite fibers are arranged radially from the center to the outer circumference, the non-deformation operation region of the cone is large, and excellent performance without breaking up of the cone is obtained. In addition, by combining polypropylene and graphite fiber, excellent damping and high strength without unnecessary resonance are ensured.
In addition, the Kirby linear cone with a specially designed shape that adds strength to the piston during motion and the newly designed inverted dust cap that improves strength have been adopted to realize motion with minimum deformation of the cone even under high power conditions.
The second generation Kappa series is a further improvement of the IMG cone, achieving a weight reduction of approximately 10% and a hardness improvement of approximately 5%. It also uses lightweight and heat-resistant Kapton bobbin and ribbon wire for high current.
The Kappa8.2i woofer unit has a fo of 25 Hz and uses a φ 133x19mm magnet for the magnetic circuit.
A 16 cm cone type mid-bus unit is installed in the middle and low range, taking advantage of the know-how of Renaissance90.
IMG cone is also used in this unit.
A newly designed 7.6 cm dome type mid-high unit is installed in the middle and high area.
This unit is an improvement on the polydome used in the original Kappa series and uses a newly developed ultrathin (0.3 mm) soft polypropylene composite diaphragm, which is a low Q dome-shaped diaphragm driven from the dome periphery by a large diameter edge-wound voice coil.
In addition, an aluminum mesh diffuser has been added to the back of the dome. This diffuser has the function of suppressing the disturbance of the frequency characteristics due to the back wave without applying a load to the dome-shaped diaphragm, and realizes flatter frequency characteristics and low distortion.
Furthermore, the acoustic energy radiated to the back surface of the dome is guided from the center of the magnetic circuit with a special structure to the back cavity, eliminating the influence of back sound pressure.
EMIT-R, Infiniti's original planar tweeter, is installed in the high range.
In the EMIT-R, an ultrathin Kapton membrane is used for the flat diaphragm, and ring-shaped voice oil is photo-etched on the surface. By combining this diaphragm with a magnetic circuit of a special shape, the diaphragm is directly driven. This realizes flat characteristics with few peaks and valleys, wide-directional characteristics, and low distortion factor.
Equipped with level control for middle and high areas.
The enclosure uses a column-shaped polygonal enclosure to minimize the effects of internal standing waves, and uses high-density, low-resonance particleboard for a natural sound.
The exterior has a honey-oak finish. There is also an oak veneer inside.
Bi-wiring is supported.
It comes with spikes and can be tuned according to your room.
