Ivan Kugach was born in Moscow in 1972. He graduated from the surikov state art institute in 1996 from the studio of v.i. Zabelin. Like his father mikhail kugach, grandfather yuri kugach (1917-1923), and grandmother olga svetlichnaya (1915-1997), ivan's naturalist oeuvre is focused the landscape and life of the tver region in the area around the academic dacha. The kugach family has been compared to the wyeth family- generations of outstanding classical artists whose muse is nature.
