The Children of Uranium, designed by Almer Leupen and Peter Greenaway, two film makers, aims to have a temporal characteristic like a film. Structures on the progression of the atomic table, currently in 2006 running at 118 elements, it has that exact number of pages, all of them tempered in darkness until the explosive light of element 92, uranium, bleaches the remaining 20 pages white. The text in these pages, especially the texts of the libretto in Italian and English, are colour-coded to especially pick out the elements, the element-lyrics, the characters, the drama headings and the libretto-text itself. There are two other relevant temporal continuity items, an exploding atomic bomb running from front to back, and the exploding green apple of Eve and Eden and the Tree of Knowledge, running from back to front, both sequences operated by flicking the pages of the catalogue.
