Repose was published in conjunction with an exhibition with the same title at FO.KU.S Foto Kunst Stadtforum in Innsbruck, Austria. The publication compiles a selection of ten superbly printed card stock fold out photographs from Dumas’ oeuvre within a printed folio that features smaller images of some of her photographs on the inside cover. These larger format prints allow for an unbound and versatile experience of the photographs. To enter into a closer, or perhaps a more distanced, relationship with these animals, for these austere portraits deserve the kind of attentiveness one offers them in this format. Dumas’ animal subjects reveal an emotional sensitivity, nobility, and situational awareness that is congruently poignant and undeniably instinctive, calling attention to the relationship between animal and human, or animal and culture.
