Desiree Dolron - Exaltation - Gaze - Xteriors

Desiree Dolron is one of the best-known Dutch artists working with photography today, and has developed a unique style in both documentary and artistic work. Her series “Exaltation: Images of Religion and Death” (1991-1999) deals with excess in religious ceremonies, from exaltation to self-mutilation. “Gaze” (1996-1998) involves images of people underwater, peaceful portraits that seem to be of another, almost mythological world, blurring the boundaries between life and death. “XTERIORS” (2001-2006) presents portraits and situations inspired by the traditions of painting.
