Carl de Keyzer - Hauteurs: Ararat
Uitgeverij: Editions Glénat, 2017
Softcover, 240 pagina's, Frans
Afmetingen: 24x17cm
Staat: Gelezen, zeer goed
This is an intriguing, prophetic, cinematic, and apocalyptic book! What if "civilization" existed only on the mountains where it escaped rising waters? Photographer Carl de Keyzer and writer and director Philippe Claudel imagine a world that is both disturbing and captivating, challenging both sensitivity and conscience.
In a previous book, Moments Before the Flood, Carl de Keyzer depicted coastal Europe threatened by submersion due to global warming.
In Hauteurs, the flood has taken place. The Magnum photographer paints a suspended and suspended world where people have found refuge at high altitudes. His photographs, taken in the French, Austrian, Swiss, and German Alps, as well as in the Spanish mountains, blend irony and anguish, burlesque and poetry, commitment and romanticism.
They inspired Philippe Claudel to write the short stories collected under the title Ararat. So many snapshots, between lightness, ferocity, tenderness, and atrocity.
Carl de Keyzer's work, Higher Grounds, was published as an art book by the Dutch-language publisher Lannoo in 2016. Presented in a more popular format and more closely combining text and photographs, this new edition will also reach an audience concerned with mountains and environmental issues, as well as loyal readers of Philippe Claudel.
