Henk van Rensbergen does not delve into the past in order to reveal a civilization; he is an Urban Explorer, and explores the empty buildings of his times. Deserted factories, hospitals, barracks, schools, office buildings, castles or just houses. This is not without risk: some parts have become dilapidated, polluted or simply dangerous. What he finds is all the more fascinating: a world where mankind disappeared the moment the gates were closed and the windows were boarded up. Time is not standing still, it has merely adopted a different rhythm. Nature takes back what used to be hers, while a falling roottile or a flying pigeon interrupts the silence. By listening to the silence of the empty building, we can bring it back to life and worm out its secrets.
