Ans Westra Photographs
Designed by one New Zealand's foremost graphic designers, Neil Pardington.
Handboek was published as part of the 2004 retrospective exhibition of Ans Westra's 45 year photographic journey. As one of New Zealand's most iconic documentary photographers. The exhibition and the book were the result of a collaboration between Ans, BMX and the Alexander Turnbull Library. Mostly black and white photos. Including some from Washday at the Pa. Articles by Christina Barton, Cushla Parekowhai, Damian Skinner. Many group and portrait photographs including historic figures like James K. Baxter, Hone Tuwhare and many ordinary New Zealanders, both Maori and Pakeha. Significant historical events like the Maori Land March of 1976 and the protests against the 1981 Springbok Tour.
