De Canadese zangeres/pianiste Diana Krall zingt op haar vijfde album When I Look In Your Eyes licht verteerbare composities van o.a. Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern en George Gershwin. De smaakvolle sobere orkestarrangementen zijn van Johnny Mandel en ondanks dat gitarist Russell Malone eind 1998 haar trio had verlaten is hij toch op dit album van de partij. Diana Krall heeft beslist een mooi sensueel klinkend stemgeluid en ook over haar pianospel niets dan goeds, maar het zou aardig zijn haar eens aan het werk te horen in meer hedendaagse composities dan in nummers als I Can't Give You Anything But Love, Let's Face The Music And Dance, Let's Fall In Love en de 'ghosttrack' Why Should I Care die al door zo veel artiesten op de plaat gezet zijn.
