In the eighties he played with Miles Davis in the band: bassist Marcus Miller. There he laid the foundation for what he now does with his own band, in which Bernard Wright (keyboards) also plays, who also collaborated on Davis' albums at the time. Miller was already very successful with his previous album Tales. This album consisting mainly of live recordings will certainly also appeal to those who appreciated Tales. Strong performances from Panther, Tutu (trumpet: Michael "Patches" Stewart) and Maputo. Lalah Hathaway can be heard as a guest singer in People Make The World Go 'Round and Summertime. You can also listen to a performance of Billie Holiday's classic Strange Fruit. Cooperation was provided by saxophonist Kenny Garrett, among others. Two of the 10 tracks were recorded in the studio: Sophie and Jazz In The House. Marcus Miller is a hip bass player who is 'in' with fans of contemporary trendy jazz. Most of the recordings for this CD were made in Japan (Tokyo and Osaka); the Intro was recorded in Montreux and Tutu in Los Angeles.
