Rotterdam Philharmonic sounds great as Maestro Gergiev leads them in some fantastic sounding concert recordings. Ravel and Debussy are similar to his LSO recordings.
Prokofiev's Fifth Symphony, Bartok's Miraculous Mandarin and a symphony by Taneyev are highlights. A version of Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony with the Mariinsky also sounds brilliant. A Stravinsky choral work is rousing and well delivered. The extraneous noises that infiltrate his Mariinsky recordings are nowhere to be found here.
Overall, a great 4 cd set. Gergiev and the Rotterdamers have a strong musical connection.
