GEM immediately starts off with the soulful Moving On. After the dry opening of the drums, the guitar joins in and we hear that characteristic voice of Westerik. Then a few wonderfully soulful horns follow that complete the song. Swinging from start to finish.
With Call Me Down To Ohio or Thunder Lightning follow a few straightforward GEM pop/rock songs. Time to take it easy on Easy To Review and Got To Be You. On I Believe It’s Better To Walk On a catchy Hammond organ sounds the whole time, which makes the songs exciting and groovy. Still enjoying the afterglow and then ending up with Better Heart Of Mine. On this another amazing horn section and certainly a highlight of the album. I think the horns of De Dijk have come by and I only miss Huub van der Lubbe. Wow, what a song, frivolous and inspiring! With the Britpop sounding For The Light To Shine GEM takes you on a trip to leave you overwhelmed at the end with a great musical climax. Let's compare it to the songs of Oasis or Miles Kaine, just a super song! Tension Tonight stands like a house with great guitar work and the modest When I Left Home closes the album beautifully. GEM is not dead, no they are very much alive.
