These two band represents the fusion of the folkoric tradition of borinquen culture with the cuban innovations pioneered in the 60;s and 70;s by los van lan and juan formell. Add to this mezcla songs by cats like the brazilian genius chico buarque and you have an album that synthesizes not only cuban and brazilian and puerto rican components but also adds the final aspect of the african diaspora-the harmonic jazz vocabulary. In a world where artists are often afraid to risk something truly new, we are lucky to have artists like t & z who can throw the conventional out the window of a moving vehicle and come up with something extraordinary in its place!!
