De lp “3-way tie (for last)” uit 1985 van het legendarische punk/alternatieve trio Minutemen.
Een van de eerste persingen, misschien wel de allereerste.
Ik heb deze lp in de tijd van het verschijnen gekocht en dus al 40 jaar in mijn bezit.
Maar nu is het tijd om er een ander blij mee te maken…

Minutemen were an American punk rock band formed in San Pedro, California, in 1980. Composed of guitarist/vocalist D. Boon, bassist/vocalist Mike Watt, and drummer George Hurley, Minutemen recorded four albums and eight EPs before Boon's death in an automobile accident in 1985; the band broke up shortly thereafter. They were noted in the California punk community for a philosophy of "jamming econo"—a sense of thriftiness reflected in their touring and short, tight songs, and for their eclectic style, drawing on hardcore punk, funk, jazz, and other sources. “D. Boon's death in December 1985 was one of rock's most tragic occurrences. And, a decade later, you may find that it still affects the way you listen to this, the "final" Minutemen record. Boon was hitting his stride here; the songs were emphatic, smart, and marked by his increasing sociopolitical awareness. He did not suffer fools gladly, and this record (as do the best of the Minutemen's) retains a strong sense of moral indignation (listen to "The Price of Paradise" and "The Big Stick"). One fact that shouldn't be lost in eulogizing over Boon was the significant role Mike Watt was playing in the band. This hadn't happened overnight, but with each successive record, Watt's confidence as a bass player and songwriter was growing, and by the time of 3-Way Tie, his skills were in full flower -- so much so that one side of the record is called "Side D," the other, "Side Mike." Het allereerste optreden van Minutemen destijds was in het voorprogramma van Black Flag.

Zowel hoes als plaat in NM/NM of eigenlijk M/M staat. Altijd rechtop in een donkere, koele, droge en rookvrije omgeving bewaard. Geen enkel gebruiksspoortje te vinden. De prijs is daarom de VASTE prijs.
Probeer eens een ander exemplaar van deze erg vroege persing te krijgen in M/M staat…
