DUTCH VINTAGE INDUSTRIAL ARCHITECT'S TABLE WITH LAMP BY ROTANEX-POOL, NETHERLANDS 1950

This specialized drafting table was manufactured in the Netherlands by Rotanex-Pool N.V., Wormerveer Holland during the 1950s. A truly rare find and an exceptional example of mid-century Dutch industrial craftsmanship.

The table features a sturdy metal frame finished in a charming shade of light green, typical of the period. Both the inclination of the tabletop and its height are fully adjustable. The tabletop can be set and locked in any position thanks to a precise foot pedal mechanism that regulates movement; a hallmark of professional-grade drafting equipment of the time.

This type of table is highly sought after by collectors, architects, and structural designers who still value the art of drawing by hand. It is not just a piece of furniture, but a functional workspace with history and character, once used to create technical drawings, designs, and artworks that defined an era.

The table comes with a 1960s black drafting lamp, a wooden ruler, and a movable articulated arm. This type of precision drawing tool was used in engineering and architectural design. It consists of a pair of scales mounted at right angles on an articulated head that allows full rotation.

The protractor head moves freely across the board, sliding along dual guides that operate independently for horizontal and vertical movement, both of which can be locked securely. The arms are balanced by a system of counterweights, ensuring smooth and stable operation.

The drawing machine is mounted on a hard, smooth worktop, which can be tilted and raised to the desired angle — from fully horizontal to vertical — allowing the artist or architect to work in complete comfort. This innovative mechanism made it possible to perform complex drawing operations such as parallel lines, orthogonal lines, and angled lines with exceptional accuracy and ease.

For additional comfort, the table is equipped with a lamp on a curved arm, with a switch conveniently located in the shade.

This Rotanex-Pool drafting table remains in original vintage condition. All parts are fully functional. It shows signs of age such as scratches, small rust blooms, and a beautiful natural patina, all contributing to its authentic industrial charm.
