Fritz Hansen Egg Chair van Arne Jacobsen

Original Fritz Hansen Egg Chair from the first edition in 1959 designed by Arne Jacobsen (1958). Very rare collectors item.

This chair has been carefully reupholstered into its original and authentic state after 65years. Unfortunately, the original model was in a very bad condition and did not allow usage any more (See photos). The foam and leather have been fully restored and ball bearings have been replaced to provide the ease of a contemporary lounge chair.

The edition of 1958- early 60s had an integrated cushion which has been replaced by a new separate cushion to avoid the stress on the seams. This is aligned with the newer editions from today.

The exceptional beauty of this chair comes from the star base as mold injected matt aluminium finish which today has been replaced by a tubular base that is less authentic. The cognac is genuine Anilin leather which will age over time and develop a nice patina like the old one did as well. Anilin leather is the most premium and expensive leather that exists, as only the most perfect skins can be used for this type of upholstery. The colour match looks very bright on the photo but the actual leather finish is matching the original leather.

All photos of the repair can be shared with the new owner for history as well as the original stamp logo that has been preserved during the reupholstery. A second identical chair is available upon demand.
