About the designer
Stefan Scholten (b. 1972, the Netherlands) graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 1995 and has since become one of the defining voices of Dutch Design. Working from his Amsterdam-based studio, Scholten has created designs for respected international brands including HAY, Moroso, Cappellini, Forbo, Maharam, and nanimarquina. His work is characterized by reductionist clarity combined with a sensitive and often bold use of color. Known for his atelier-method-of-working, Scholten sketches and experiments directly with materials and pigments until new and original forms emerge.
